Luca Stocchi is a Surgeon and Chair in the division of colon and rectal surgery at Mayo Clinic Hospital in Jacksonville, Florida. His main interests are inflammatory bowel disease, laparoscopic surgery and colorectal cancer. He graduated magna cum laude from the Facolta’ di Medicina e Chirurgia, Universita’ di Bologna, Italy and received most of his post-graduate trainings at Mayo Clinic Hospital in Rochester, Minnesota, including a general surgery residency and a fellowship in the division of colon and rectal surgery, research fellowships in the immunology of colorectal cancer and in advanced laparoscopic colorectal surgery, and an international fellowship in colon and rectal surgery.
Before joining Mayo Clinic, Dr. Stocchi was at the Cleveland Clinic in Cleveland, Ohio, where he served as the Story-Garschina Chair in colorectal surgery, and was also a staff Surgeon, Professor of surgery, and Head of the research section of the department of colorectal surgery in the Digestive Disease and Surgery Institute.
Dr. Stocchi has previously been recognized by Best Doctors in America and granted the Distinguished Teacher of the Year Award. He is author or coauthor of more than 150 peer-reviewed publications and has served on multiple journal editorial boards. He is certified by the American Board of Surgery and the American Board of Colon and Rectal Surgery.
