Founded in 1898 as the nation’s first cancer center, Roswell Park Cancer Institute set the standard for today’s multidisciplinary approach to the highest quality cancer care. In 1986, the institute’s researchers played a pivotal role in locating the genetic defect for familial adenomatous polyposis – a pre-malignant condition leading to colorectal cancer. Future studies in this area could lead to the development of a blood test which would identify individuals at risk of colorectal cancer.
