summary/abstract:The reference discusses cancer cases that can be grouped into two broad categories, sporadic and familial. Sporadic cancers are those in which affected individual does not have a known family history of the disease. Familial cancers are those that occur in generations of a family and affected individuals generally have close relatives with same cancer type. These individuals may inherit defective genes that can cause development of cancer.
